We’ve all heard of the Bugatti police car in Dubai, or the Lamborghini rescue vehicle in Los Angeles, but imagine seeing a F1 supercar whizzing by you while roaming the streets of your local town. Not your average big name city like Dubai or Abu Dhabi, but a quaint little town in the southern region of England by the name of Avon.
This car is not only stylish, but extremely fast too. The Ariel Atom is equipped with a 350 horsepower engine and boasts a similar time to the Veyron in the 0-60, clocking in at just 2.6 seconds. The vehicle will feature all the regular police markings, a fluorescent LED light strip at the top and fully functioning sirens. However, just like the Bugatti and Lamborghini police cars, they aren’t used for catching speeders.
Instead, it’s being used to raise awareness on motorcycle safety. Ariel has a two-wheeler in the making, and the company boss Simon Saunders wants to fully promote road safety for motorcyclists.
“There is a time and a place [for going fast]” explains Saunders, adding that the Atom, while fast, is at its best on the track, and not on the road. The same applies to motorcycles, and Ariel wants its customers to be safe and responsible. “There’s always one certain loser in a motorcycle collision and that’s the motorcyclist” he adds.
