Mille Miglia, which translates from Italian to mean “thousand miles,” was an open-road endurance race from Brescia to Rome and back again, which took place from 1927 to 1957. Like other similar-style races, Mille Miglia made Gran Turismo (Grand Touring) sports cars like Alfa Romeo, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche famous. The race brought out an estimated 5 million spectators.
Today, the reenactment of the Mille Miglia is an event in a class of it’s own. The very words, Mille Miglia, bring visions of sleek sports cars driven at fantastic speeds through small villages and along country roads to the delight of all who gather to watch. Now you can experience Mille Miglia for yourself.
