Patrick Staropoli may think he’s dreaming as he was chosen as the first ever winner of the PEAK Stock Car Dream Challenge by the crew at Michael Waltrip Racing.
What they envisioned was a true driver’s search that would feature legitimate up and coming racers from around the country with various levels of experience, with the most important goal of raw talent being the prerequisite. What was up for grabs was a seat on the Michael Waltrip Racing driver development team.
The whole affair took place at a driver showdown in Charlotte under the watchful eyes of NASCAR veterans such as Clint Bowyer, Danica Patrick, Martin Truex Jr., Michael Waltrip, Mark Martin and Brian Vickers. The enventwinner who survived all that was thrown his way was Patrick Staropoli, who proved himself as the champion.
Staropoli showed that he had the skills, unrelenting dedication, and wit to take his racing career to the next level. He finished ahead of over 500 challengers to land himself in the top 10. And in a final nine, three-day driving school competition at Charlotte Motor Speedway — he emerged with the PEAK SCD Challenge checkered flag.
