Though Marussia still remains officially on the schedule for the 2015 season, its assets are currently being sold off, with the implicit notion that the team’s days in racing are over. Pursuant to such, a buyer for the team’s headquarters and some other assets has been found- Haas F1. Gene Haas’ attempt to make an entry for the 2016 season is gearing up, and the team is beginning to pool technology and assets for the Herculean task of fielding a successful Formula 1 team.
Haas’ team will be based in North Carolina but will have a base in Europe in order to facilitate more efficient operations in what is widely seen as the major theater of Formula 1 operations. Haas has acquired the Marussia headquarters in Banbury, England, just down the road from the Mercedes and Red Bull operations.
It is also widely speculated that the Haas team has acquired other assets from Marussia, including data and designs for its cars. Haas F1 will use Ferrari power, beginning in 2016. Construction of cars will likely take place in North Carolina, with the bulk of operations in England.
