It was indeed a crazy week of car activities and to be honest, we were hoping to clear our mind by finding a coz spot in the woods circling the 4.0-mile RA road course and just zoning out. But, as soon as we walked through the gate, we were literally back at work in Speedville. And we’re not taking about back on the Website as a pit crew member emailing stories and photos electronically. No, we’re talking about actually, physically, being in Speedville.
It seems that Johnsonville Sausage LLC of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.—a town not very far from Road America’s location in Elkhart Lake—had decided to nickname the famous road course in its backyard “Speedville.” We were looking at a large sign that read, “Speedville Win Tunnel Grill: Grab Some Buds.”
Though we’re not exactly sure what that specifically means, apparently the sausage company is trying to suggest that a walk through the racetrack’s spectator tunnel would get you to a cool place called Speedville. And we have to agree that Speedville is a very cool place.
Apparently, Johnsonville Sausage LLC is familiar with this great website, with its tasty content and its meaty significance in the world of racing. To that we say “Hot Dog.” But to be frank about it, we relish catching up with the brat who moved Speedville from Ohio to Wisconsin. Whoever it was might enjoy a visit to the world famous Mustard Museum in Mt. Horeb.
