With McLaren’s P1 GTR scheduled to debut at the Geneva Motor Show this spring, anticipation is building among the automotive community. The P1 GTR is the track-only variant of the McLaren P1 supercar. The P1 GTR will be powered by the same 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 that powers the P1. It will also see a power bump of 83 hp to a final output of 986 horsepower.
The P1 GTR is the latest iteration of the GTR label, which competed very successfully in the 1990s with the McLaren F1 GTR name-plate; the car scored a win at the 1995 24 Hours of LeMans. The car’s production date is currently unknown, but it will be part of a special program that affords buyers track instruction and time in the company’s racing simulator.
