At WRC Rally Sweden this year, the snow and treacherous conditions presented an obstacle to some. However, Belgian driver Thierry Neuville used the harsh conditions to his advantage. He set a new record for a jump in the event, on a geographic feature named Colin’s Crest.
Neuville piloted his Hyundai i20 to a jump distance of 143.3 feet as he came off the crest. This beats the previous record by around 22 feet.
The WRC i20 sports a 1.6 liter turbocharged in-line four cylinder engine which produces 300 hp and 400 nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Four wheel drive and a six-speed sequential gearbox are standard, as per FIA WRC regulations.
