Canadian driver Ivan Buchholtz, piloting ‘Fasten Your Bucklez’ has won the coveted USA Jet River Racing Series for 2013, driving a hull created by Ross Schlotthauer of Burly Racing; located in Post Falls, Idaho, the American Power Boat Association announced on Monday.
Buchholtz, 33, of Peace River, Alberta, Canada and his brother/navigator Eric Buchholtz, 29, (Peace River, Alberta) and back-up navigator Eric Kamienieki, 27,(Red Deer, Alberta) finished with the best overall time of four hours, 59.07 minutes.
“We are really happy to be where we are at and its great we could make it down to all the races this year,” Buchholtz said. “Our best speed we’ve ever hit is 106 MPH here in the states.”
The USA Jet River Racing Series was comprised of three jet boat river races on the Salmon, St. Joe and Snake rivers in Idaho. Buchholtz’s jet boat #221 raced in the CX jet river class of stock Chevrolet CT 525 crate engines. This is the team’s second year of jet boat racing. Buchholtz has competed using only race hulls built by Schlotthauer of Burly Racing.
