The De Tomaso Pantera is a snapshot into the past of performance automobiles. After a production hiatus lasting the better part of 20 years, it seems the iconic company is now consigned to history, despite struggles to stay afloat lasting well up into the mid-2000s.
Nonetheless, the Pantera was a force to be reckoned with on the track and employed innovative styling that still captivates many to this day. That’s why this video caught our attention. It shows a fantastic looking Pantera revving its engine and speeding down the track.
The Pantera was built by the eponymous Italian automaker in the early 1970s and sold at Ford dealers for the better part of four years, with almost 5,000 being sold in the US. De Tomaso sold the remaining models in Europe through the 1990s.
The car featured a Ford sourced 351 cubic inch(5.8 liter) mid-mounted V8 for most of its production run. Needless to say, we’re sad it’s gone.
